Naturopathic medicine emphasizes healing, wellness and optimal health using a holistic approach to care. This means that licensed naturopathic doctors evaluate physical symptoms and physical presentation along with mental, emotional and spiritual health. Naturopathic doctors are trained to understand that all of these factors must be considered when determining an individualized approach to each patient’s care. There are a number of different modalities utilized which include nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, supplementation, hydrotherapy and lifestyle counseling in order to achieve healing and improved wellness.

The 6 principles of naturopathic medicine that create its foundation include:
